The Maldives is made up of approx. 1,190 individual islands across 26 naturally formed atolls in the Indian Ocean. The closest neighbors are India and Sri Lanka.
The Maldives is a destination with warm temperatures all year-round. The most ideal temperature is from December to February. March to April is also a great time visit, especially for surfers. This is high season in the Maldives, where resorts are usually fully booked and prices are higher than the rest of the year. Also, Christmas till New Year is the busiest and most expensive part of the high season.
Between May till November, it is still warm but you may experience cloudy skies, higher humidity, and rainfall. For this reason, this is the low season in the Maldives where prices drop to the lowest with the best deals.
The Maldives provides free 30-day visa for all nationalities.
Overall, you just need a valid passport, lots of sunscreen, summer clothes and a camera to capture all your lovely moments here in the Maldives!
The Maldives is a tropical destination with warm climate all year around. For this reason, we would advise our travellers to pack a range of loose, cooling and light garments. If you think you would need a pair of heels, forget about it! You might even be spending most of the time barefoot. So, leave those uncomfortable heels at bay and pack flipflops, sandals and gym shoes. You will also find yourself often lounging by the pool or swimming in the turquoise waters. So, don’t forget to pack your favorite bikinis or swimwear.
The standard permissible allowance for Domestic Flight is 5kg for hand luggage and 20kg for checked-luggage per person. The weight of any bag should not exceed 30 kg.
Yes! Seaplane needs daylight to fly and so can only fly from sunrise to sunset. When booking your international flights, we would recommend the below:
Arrival: If you would like to reach the resort on the same day, please plan to arrive the Maldives by 15:30 (Local Time). If you are unable to find an international flight, our travel advisors will also assist in arranging your one-night stay in Male’ or Hulhumale’. Then on the next day, the resort will arrange the flight first to the resort.
Departure: Seaplane can cater travelers who have their scheduled international flight departure time after 9 am. However, there are certain exceptions. Therefore, feel free to check with our travel advisors
The Maldives is +5 from GMT. Some resorts follow a local “island time” though to maximize the daylight.
Entrance to the Maldives is a seamless process. You will only require a passport with at least 06 months validity, international flight tickets and the resort voucher from Travel Essence, confirming your Maldives Holiday that which is already booked
Vape Products Ban: Effective November 15, 2024, the importation of all vape products and individual parts of vape devices will be illegal in the Maldives. Furthermore, starting December 15, 2024, the use, possession, production, sale, advertisement, and distribution of all vape products will be completely banned.
Tobacco Import Guidelines: As of November 9, 2024, travelers on a tourist visa are allowed to import limited quantities of tobacco products for personal use to the Maldives. Specifically, they may bring in:
Up to 200 cigarettes or
25 cigars or
250 grams of tobacco
US Dollars are the principal currency in the Maldives resorts, even though other currencies such as Euro & Pound Sterling are also accepted. The local currency in Maldives is called Rufiyaa (MVR).
